On Monday, the Indian Women’s Cricket Team won Gold in the Asian Games 2023 by defeating Sri Lanka by 19 runs in the final match of the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China. It was a low-scoring match in which Team India has achieved success. The Indian team is participating in the Asian Games for the first time and in its very first year won the gold medal by defeating Sri Lanka. This is the first gold medal for the Indian women’s cricket team in the Asian Games. This final match was played at ZJUT Cricket Field in Hangzhou, Zhejiang.

Indian team won the toss and decided to bat first but India had a bad start. Shefali Verma got out after scoring 9 runs in 15 balls. After this, Samriti along with Jemimah Rodrigues made an important partnership of 73 runs for the second wicket.

This partnership was broken by Ranavira. She broke and dismissed Mandhana. Mandhana scored 40 runs in 45 balls with the help of four fours and a six, while Richa scored 9 runs, Captain Harmanpreet Kaur, returning to the team after a two-match ban, could score only 2 runs. Pooja by scoring 2 runs.

Jemimah Rodrigues, who was out, played an innings of 42 runs in 40 balls with the help of five fours. Deepti and Amanjot remained unbeaten scoring 1 run each. Indian team scored 116 runs losing 7 wickets.

The Sri Lankan team, which came to chase the target of 117 runs, did not have a very good start. Indian fast bowler Titash Sadhu took two wickets in the third over. Sadhu got Anushka Sanjeewani caught by Harmanpreet Kaur on the first ball of the third over Sanjeevani 1.

Indian bowler Deepti Ranasinghe dismissed Sri Lanka at 86 for 6 in 18 overs. Kavisha Dilhari was caught out by Richa on the score of 5 runs, Sugandhika Kumari was out by Rajeshwari after being stumped by Richa’

Priyadarshani and Udeshika Parbodhani one run each. The Sri Lankan team remained unbeaten after scoring only 57 runs for 8 wickets. India won. Sandhu took three wickets for 6 runs.

Rajeshwari Gaikwad took two wickets for 20 runs. Deepti Sharma took one wicket each for Pooja Vastrakar and Devika Vaidya.

With this, India Women’s Cricket Team won its first gold medal and second gold medal for India in the Asian Games 2023.

Sri Lanka reached the final for the third time in a row but this time also could not win the title. Sri Lanka made it to the final in three consecutive competitions but this time again it had to face defeat. This time it lost to India by 19 runs.

The 18-year-old Titas Sadhu, playing only her second T20I, put India in total command. She picked up three wickets in three overs, including the prized scalp of skipper Chamari Athapaththu, and gave away only two runs.
